Scat #1 cover pasteup

Ah, the days of waxers, border tape, glue sticks, and white out... really makes you appreciate modern computer graphics and page layout software. Following up on my September 7 posting, this is another relic of the old "Scat" comics magazine.

What you see here is the actual pasteup that was used to produce the cover for the first issue. I actually drew the cover image and the logo on the same piece of paper, then pasted up all of the other elements. -- PL

  2. Its funny how much that cover image resembles the kinds of figures Playmates would end up manufacturing in the early 90s...foreshadowing!

  4. Wow! What an amazing cover!

I agree with your comments about being appreciative of modern computer graphics & page layout software.

PL, did you free hand the "SCAT" logo, or did you use some sort of stencil for that?

    Either way, it's pretty impressive!

Thanks! As I recall, that was laboriously freehanded. -- PL

  6. Hi Pete,

Just going through all the wonderful posts you're making here. Are there digital versions or hard copy versions of Scat available somewhere? I grew up in the Valley and missed out on these magazines since I was only 3 when that 1st ish came out. If not on the internet... in one of the many libraries within the 5 colleges? Someplace I can check them out the next time I'm in town?
