Quazine at the pool... table

Braving the dust collected under my pool table, I dug out one of the boxed Quazine figures I mentioned in my last post, and set it on the table to take a photo.

Given the interest several of you have expressed, I think I will be making some of these available -- maybe ten or twenty. But first I have to check with Katie to see how much they will cost to ship. They'll probably go for $10 plus shipping. I'll post more details here when I get it figured out.

As you can see, the Quazine figures are unpainted. I will be happy to sign any Quazines purchased -- I'd probably do it very small on the bottom of their feet unless otherwise requested. Probably Jim Lawson would be happy to sign them too. (Hmm... I just realized I should probably take a photo of the backside of the figure so you can see what that looks like. But I can't do it now -- I'd be late for today's movie meeting.) -- PL

UPDATE: I have decided to offer a limited number of the boxed, unpainted Quazines for sale through the TMNT website. They will go for $15.00, shipping included. I sent an email to Dan Berger this morning requesting that he post the appropriate ordering info, so hopefully that will show up on the site soon. -- PL

heh, always a tease with info, you guys are :). Just so nonchalant mentioning the movie meeting like it's another day at work...oh wait, it is ;o)..

It's a cool looking alien design......the feet remind me of an elephants....sort of like the front half of the elephant was chopped off and boom, instant alien design :)...Looks good though :).

Speaking of aliens, what is your favorite design out of any alien ever created? The main bad guy from Galaxy Quest is right up there on my cool looking alien lists :)..

Wooo! I love it will they come with a box like that or will it just be the little figure?
I'm so ready to buy one as soon as the word is given!
You know this isn't a bad idea to have exclusives sold through the site, you could do maybe a one time thing with NECA some time down the road also.
And good luck with the movie talk hope it's a good one, I have a movie idea but i'm sure your only taking scripts from pros lol

PS. I hope that you don't totally reject the idea of a de-mutated movie.

Although I think it would be better if Don and Mike where left mutated, and Raph and Leo and Splinter where de-mutated some how by the Shredder.

I've always thought it might be an interesting story point if the de-mutated turtles where mixed in with a bunch of other regular pet shop turtles...would they take the chance of re-mutating the wrong ones? :)

Awesome!
I think I will be the 2nd one to order one, after Vaughn Michael, of course!

Getting an un-mass produced toy? $10

Getting it signed by two of comics greatest talents? Priceless

Haha!

Let us know! Thanks!

That's pretty cool. It would be a nice exclusive little thing to have.

Glad to hear there's still movie talk, Pete. However, I disagree with Neil completely - I hope you stay as far away from a "de-mutation" story as possible. On the most basic story level, the introduction of mutation and de-mutation at will entirely diminishes not only the significance of the Turtles' existence, but also that of the one-in-a-million odds that led to that existence.

TCRI truck swerves, canister flies out, strikes pedestrian, bounces off, flies toward boy with aquarium, hits aquarium, aquarium shatters, 4 turtles fall out, land in sewer-drain, canister rolls into drain, shatters, bathes the turtles in ooze.

That is the isolated, extraordinary series of events upon which all subsequent stories are hinged. As soon as you re-introduce mutation (and place conveniently at the will of the Turtles' arch-nemesis, no less?!?!), the entire story is denigrated to one horrible, ridiculous deus ex machina. Though overall it was a good film, the story for 2007's TMNT was very weak. The sequel can be better (and hopefully, by your judgement, Pete, it should be better).

Yes!!! Please, make those Quazine available... Me likes Plenet racers :)

It's incredible to see how many cool items are still hidden out there, in some dusty corner; I just received the Anthrocon 2005 book & t-shirt, directly from their online store. Great piece of TMNT art.

Yes, we had a movie meeting yesterday (one of several we've had over the last few months). As Mirage policy is to not discuss details until an actual deal is in place, I must be circumspect. However, I can say this -- the people we met with are enthusiastic and energetic and very much want to do a TMNT movie, and I believe they have the wherewithal to accomplish that goal. And it is almost entirely certain that if we do the movie with these folks, it will be a live action/CGI hybrid. -- PL

You, sir, have just made my day.

Mine as well. Excellent!

A "a live action/CGI hybrid" is indeed the direction I hope the TMNT movie is taking. The 2007 movie, as much much as I liked it, suffered from being marketed strictly toward kids. The recent wave of superhero movies shows that the big screen audience is ready for a more mature iteration of the boys in green.

Still wish it would stay in the first four movie continuity, though.

Turtle movie, or Planet Racers movie? After reading the PR books, I always thought they would translate fantastically to the screen.....as long as the Waschowski brothers are nowhere to be seen....;0)

Live Action/CGI when done well is still the ultimate combo.
With the right script/Director in place you could take the turtles to new highs.
Sir you've given me such hope :)

Hey Ben! I'm talking Turtle movie here, but I would love to see a "Planet Racers" movie. And I agree with you comment about the W Bros. -- PL

Wow, I'd love to have one'a these things. It'd be fun to have a three-dimensional bit of Jim Lawson art next to that A. C. Farley Leo bust on my bookshelf.

Hope to hear more soon!

I hope whoever is involved will have the resources to pull off the effect of the turtles interacting with live actors, I'm pretty skeptical of CGI/live-action martial art fight scenes being done properly.

And I prey that the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks" isn't mentioned too much in these meetings.

Neil Vitale said...

Just for sake of reference, I'm a little concerned how it would look if a CGI Turtle where to fight a live action Shredder. Would there be a blue man representing the turtle, or a guy in a blue turtle costume doing the fight scenes? How would one work that and how good would it look even with todays technology?

Neil Vitale said...

I also hope that whoever does it learns from the mistakes of the WB advertising department :). Or would the WB still be involved?

I know that -- technically speaking, and keeping in mind the ever-present necessity for suspension of disbelief -- it CAN be done, and -- if the spirit of the people we're in discussions with is any indication -- then I am confident it WILL be done. -- PL

I can assure you that "Alvin and the Chipmunks" never once came up in our discussions. -- PL

Neil, at this point I don't know what sorts of techniques/technology will be used. But it is my opinion that with the resources available to filmmakers today, ANYTHING is possible. I worry less about the visuals than the story. -- PL

Hmm..interesting. The plot thickens :). I will ask this, though...since I don't know anything about WB's involvement in the first one to be able to ask that question properly.

Taking the first four movies into consideration, have you been thinking about plot points this far in advance? #4 sort of had an open ending....with a plot device that could be used, or just ignored totally.. I'd love to see the Utroms and Triceratons fit into it somehow :).

Oh, and just in case you didn't see it on Murph's blog... some 3D Turtle Power... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca0Oq9e_g98 An update of an earlier animation attempt..

That is good to hear, one worry I have is that of a studio looking for a quick cash grab and are looking at the turtles to plug into the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" or "Garfield" CGI/live action kid's movie mold.

Has there been any type of talk concerning the chance of pushing the rating of the movie to the same level as other comicbook movies and how much autonomy the writer/director will have, or is it way to early to talk about such things?

Cool deal on an ultra rare collectible. BTW, I wish you guys could go with mo-cap martial artists for the turtles. The same technique was used for Gollum in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
