Blast from the Past #329: "Dangers of Tennis" drawing from Hampshire Life

This is another drawing from "Hampshire Life", likely from the late 1970's or early 1980's. I can't recall exactly the piece it was drawn to go with, but I suspect it was a humorous look at the sundry vicissitudes of being a tennis buff.

Looking at this drawing, I have to say that I appreciate the latitude my editor, Nancy Frazier, often gave me when coming up with ideas for the illustrations I did for "Hampshire Life". This one is pretty macabre, when you think about it. -- PL

I bet the kids of the time thought that was cool.It looks like a zombie from creepshow or a metal t-shirt or something.Though it most likely pre-dates the movie.

It seems almost like a parody, and a hilarious one. the article's called dangers of tennis apparently, tennis is almost the least dangerous sport.
nobody would ever die from it.

Just in time for The Walking Dead on AMC!

Very Cool! It reminds me of some of the album covers for metal bands in the late 80's.

It's been a while since a new post, do I suspect a new set of travel photos may be forthcoming? :-)

Also, this piece looks like something Ryan Brown would've really enjoyed.
