Blast from the past #158: "Woman riding Triceratops" by Jim Lawson

This is a cool drawing that Jim gave me some years back. It's interesting to see how much his depictions of dinosaurs have changed over the years. As readers of Jim's "Paleo" series of comics can attest, he draws them in a far more realistic manner now.

I'm not sure, but I think this drawing may be associated with the short-lived "Dino Island" comic Jim did which was published by Mirage back in the 1990's. -- PL

Yup. I'm almost 100% certain it's from Dino Island. I remember it from the News flyers I used to get From the Mirage crew in the mail.
I can't remember what they were called though.

-->> ..it is 'DINO ISLAND ' , L N .

It was short lived because it was a mini -

precursor to Guzzi LeManz ..

while not quite Sci - Fi and post apocalyptic, ..kinda like a cross between Guzzi and Paleo .

I highly recommend you guys hunting it down if you have not read it.

Quite a different tale and killer heroine than many you may have seen from Jim before !! !!

And this is what i'm talking about, this book :: .. where the colour laid out is just incredible. Even for the early 90s.

"Dino Island" parts 1 & 2 ..taken together

♥ ♥

-->> This young lady aboard the triceratops steed is another famous pilot named 'Amelia'.. and the Triceratops steed there is named Spike

This W.W. II era story sets the heroine out in flight and then lost in in the wonderful &terribly enigmatic Bermuda Triangle.

Barely managing to safely land after dumping all her fuel &damaging her plane .. she encounters dinosaurs aplenty on a very strange but beautiful island.

Amelia is not alone with the dinos. She encounters Colonists and a mysterious, GIANT of a monolith in the middle of a remote location.

Things get stranger and stranger when the Colonists of ' Plymouth' discover an " Alien " ..things get from weird to worse when the gruff' Captain Errouck has his way with the creature.

Discoveries abound and one of Jim's most fuggin' awesome Fire Fights n' flights EVER !! !!

Damm cool little 2 parter with a pretty important message.

And lots n' lots of dinos.
