Blast from the Past #228: "Spherical car pursued by robot drones"

There's no date on this piece, but my guess would be that it's from the mid- to late 1970's, possibly the early 1980's. It's one of my rare all-color pieces.

If memory serves, this one was inspired by photos of a cool "spherical car" I saw in either POPULAR MECHANICS or POPULAR SCIENCE. I just thought it looked totally "sci-fi". My apologies for the poor quality of the photo. -- PL

This is REALLY cool, I've been doing a lot of vehicle design for a project I'm working on it's funny to know that we apparently use the same reference materials even though there's about 30 difference between when we worked on our respective pieces.

I like this piece a lot because it's such a departure from your usual work, I wouldn't really have expected it to have come from you upon first glance. I suppose the full color has a lot to do with that though. Definitely one of my favorite things you've posted on here. Thanks for sharing!

Really cool piece of sci-fi art here. I like the car, but I really love the drones pursuing it.
