Blast from the Past #120: Dragon with mushrooms

This piece from 1983 is another one of the collaborations Kevin and I did pre-TMNT, where he would take a black and white drawing I had done and color it with Dr. Martin's dyes. -- PL

He has the best expression. Like he knows something really really cool, and is just waiting for you to ask what it is!

That is awesome! As a big fan of yours and Kevin's early work (I've got all the stuff you two did for Clay Geerdes) I'm really digging all these pre-TMNT illustrations you've been posting.
If you ever wanted to make a small fortune quick you could put some of these up for sale, 'cuz I know I would put myself in the poorhouse to get my hands on some

tokka - Clay Geerdes published a plethora of mini-comics in the 70s and 80s under the names Comix Wave & Comix World. Pete and Kevin did a lot of early work for him, covers and stories, even collaborating on a story in Comix Wave #10. Correct me if I'm wrong Pete, but I think that may have been the first story they did together.

Interesting to see the choice of colors. For some reason, it reminds me of a piece that was colored in the 70's, rather than the 80's. But I like it :).

Heh, Peter, if the freakin' Smurfs can be in a 2008 parade, let alone a new creation like Bolt, or some artist I don't think anyone has ever heard of before (he had the heart balloon carried by his father)....

Surely, someone can get a Turtle float in time for next years 25th anniversary. It would be now or never for next year, I Think :)...
I'd love to see two balloons, Mikey battling a Shredder balloon :)...

I'd be more than happy to go cover the thing getting inflated before the parade to boot, heh.
