Blast from the Past #331: 2003 Christmas card

Jeannine and I got to talking a few days ago about our Christmas cards, and realized that we don't have an organized archive of all of them, which we both thought would be a neat thing to have. So I am going to try to put that together, which means starting with searching the hard drive on my desktop computer for any Christmas card-related files. So far, I have only come up with three -- not an auspicious beginning.

But one of them is something that before I started looking, I'd completely forgotten about. It's the card I made for us in 2003, and it was unusual in that unlike previous cards, this one was folded differently, in thirds in a kind of accordion fashion. That way, the image of the Turtle on the Segway was on the front of the card, and when unfolded you could see the whole image.

I kind of like this one... I think the colors work well. -- PL

I love your work on the turtles, miss the book. Christmas and TMNT go together like peanut butter and hummus ;) They are both about Love and Family. No mater what creative team had control thats been the what they have been about since day one. Have a Merry Christmas, I know you will because you have ... Turtle Power! ha ha I that lame song its a guilty pleasure song compared to what I listen to now. Enjoy your holidays.

Gee I wonder why Donatello is the one up front in the Segway? ;0)

I like how you draw out a Christmas card design of your own and send them out instead of going to a dollar store and buying a box of a hundred. Its more special and meaningful your way and I love the designs.

Perhaps its a silly question, but since there was the famous Fugitree last year did you have a theme this year on the tree?

Thank you! It is part of the fun of Christmas for me, and now that I am back into the drawing of the cards I think it will be even more fun.

Not silly at all! There is no real theme this year -- we have gone back to our basic approach of using the ornaments we have collected over the years, although we did get rid of a bunch that we either didn't like any more or which were falling apart (or both). I would love to have another "Fugitree"-type theme next year. Maybe I need to start thinking about it now! -- PL
